What is MX Advantage?

MX Advantage is MX Player’s self-serve ad platform for businesses to buy MX Player ad inventory and promote their products across the MX Player ecosystem. Through MX Advantage, businesses can easily create, purchase, manage and track their ad campaigns. MX Advantage is the gateway for businesses to connect and engage with MX Player’s massive user-base across India.

What brands are MX Player working with?

MX Player works with all major brands in India. These are brands you will come across in your day-to-day life. For specific names, you can head over to the MX Advantage Home Page.

Where will my ads be shown?

Your ads will be shown across ad units on the MX Player ecosystem. All ad units available via the MX Advantage platform are premium ad units garnering the highest eyeballs on MX Player. To know more about the ad units available on MX Advantage, head over to the MX Advantage Home Page.

What type of campaigns are available?

MX Advantage has two types of campaigns – Image and Video.
When you select the Campaign Type, MX Advantage platform will list the Products available under that Campaign Type.
Basis the Product you choose, the platform will display a preview of where exactly your ad will show up on MX Player.

How much does advertising on MX Player cost?

MX Player charges you on a CPM basis i.e. Cost per 1,000 Ad Impressions. The CPM you will be charged, will depend on the Product you choose to run your ads on. CPM rates on MX Advantage range between INR 70 to INR 300.
Additionally, for some options like specific audience targeting there might be an add-on price.

In any case, as you build your campaign and select options like Product, Budget, Audience Targeting etc., you will see a complete break-down of your campaign cost on a side bar on the MX Advantage platform

Get started

Can I just tryout the service at no cost?

Of course. You can tryout the service without an obligation to buy anything.

The only information we ask of you upfront is an email address, your name and your business. You will not be asked for any payment information until you actually checkout and pay.

Why do I need to select country and currency at sign-up?

We do ask you to select a currency and country when you sign up. We need this information to filter out which products are available in your region.

Campaigns

What is a campaign and what do I need to create ads on MX Player?

It’s easy! You start off by signing up on the MX Advantage Home Page.

After signing up, you create a Campaign by entering:

  • Your Campaign Type
    This indicates whether you want to run an Image or a Video campaign

  • Your target Product
    This indicates the ad unit on which you wish to run your ads.

  • Your budget
    This indicates the amount you want to spend on your Campaign.

  • Targeting
    This indicates Where and to Whom do you want your ads to be shown.

  • Your Schedule
    This indicates when you want your ads to run.

  • Creatives
    Creatives are the actual ads displayed to your audience. Either you create an image ad or upload a video ad. Don’t worry if you don’t have a Creative, you can build one from scratch in our easy-to-use Creative builder

  • Final step is checkout.
    You can pay for your Campaigns via a Credit Card or a Debit Card.

After your ads are approved your campaign will go live at the chosen start date.

We continuously update the statistics which shows you how your campaigns and creatives are performing.

How do I pay for the Campaign?

When you have finished creating your Campaign, you will be taken to the Checkout Page. Here you can choose to pay for the Campaign or add more Campaigns to your Cart.

The MX Advantage platform supports payments via Credit Card and Debit Card through our secure payment provider. We accept all major cards.
If your Campaign delivers an impression amount lower than what you budgeted for, the platform will automatically refund the amount that was not delivered to your card after the campaign has ended.

Can I change my budget?

You can change your budget on Draft campaigns.
Once you have paid you cannot change the budget and your campaign will run until the end date, or until you decide to cancel the campaign.

How do I reach my Campaign after it is submitted?

After paying for your Campaign(s), the Campaign(s) that were included in the checkout flow will be organized under one Order. Use the order page to print a receipt for each transaction, or to access the Campaigns that were in the same order.
You can also access all campaigns under Campaigns tab on the left side menu bar.

Where can I see how my campaign is progressing?

You can check the status of your campaign to make sure impressions are being delivered. You can do this by clicking on individual campaigns on the Campaign tab. When you do this, you will see more options, you can track your campaign progress from the Performance tab.
You can also edit your campaign in this section.

Targeting options

What is Targeting?

Targeting is a way for you to control who will see your ad. It allows you to show your campaign to a selected group of visitors.

What is Frequency Capping?

Frequency capping is a method to limit the number of times an ad is shown to the same user.

What is Geotargeting?

Geotargeting is a method to reach users based on their geographic location. You can alter this by selecting cities, states or regions.

What happens if I don’t set any Targeting options?

If you do not set any targeting options, your campaign can be shown to any visitor who visits our websites and Apps. This is not recommended, as the chance of it being shown to relevant visitors is lower compared to if you set Targeting options.

Creatives

What are Creatives?

When creating your campaign, you will add one or more creatives.

A Creative is the image or video that will be shown to the visitors you target. You can either upload a completed creative from your hard drive (like a JPG image or a video), or create an ad from scratch through our easy-to-use Creative Builder.

What types of creatives can I use?

You can upload image creatives (JPG, PNG) from your computer. Use this option when your ad is a single image and already contains the image and text you want.

You can upload video ads (MP4) from your computer.

You can build a creative from scratch through our easy-to-use Creative builder. This option is often referred to as Native ads.

Advanced users can upload a 3rd party script creative. Use this if your creative is served from a third-party provider.

All creatives you upload or create are always available in your Creative Library.

How does creative approval work?

When adding new creatives you will see the status DRAFT or UNDER REVIEW.

Then your creative is under review, we are taking a look to see that your ad is conforming to our MX Ad Policy. We will either APPROVE or REJECT your creative within 2 business days.

If there is any issues with your creative we will let you know asap.

Can I change creatives on a running campaign?

Yes, you can change and add new creatives at any time.  This is a great choice if you’d like to A/B test your creatives and optimize whichever one seems to capture more clicks. 

What do the different creative statuses mean?

NO CREATIVE: No creatives were added for this Campaign. The Campaign will not deliver until a creative is added and approved.

UNDER REVIEW: A creative has been added, and is under review.

APPROVED: The creative was approved.

ACTIVE: At least one creative was added and approved, the campaign has started.

INACTIVE: The creative have been inactivated and is no longer shown to the audience. You can pause and resume the creative any time you like.

REJECTED: The creative was rejected and if this was the only creative, the Campaign cannot deliver.

Active campaigns

How do I stop a Campaign from delivering?

To stop a Campaign from delivering, pause it from the Campaign details page. The Campaign will stop delivering impressions until it is un-paused.

How do I edit submitted Campaigns?

Campaigns that have been submitted and paid for can be edited from the Campaign details page. Certain options are no longer available for editing compared to when you initially created your Campaign, such as the campaign budget and start date.

In order to edit your budget or campaign dates, you can pause your delivering Campaign, copy it and submit a new Campaign with new dates.

What do the different campaign statuses mean?

DRAFT: The Campaign creation has started but not finalized and is still editable.

INACTIVE: There are no approved creatives added to the campaign. 

LIVE (READY): At least one creative has been approved and the campaign is ready to go live at the set start date.

LIVE (DELIVERING): The campaign is currently delivering impressions. 

COMPLETED: The campaign has fulfilled the budget and is no longer delivering impressions.

CANCELLED: The campaign has been cancelled and will no longer deliver impressions. 

PAUSED: The campaign has been paused and is no longer delivering impressions. The campaign must be resumed in order to deliver impressions. 

PENDING: The campaign has been set up and paid for but missing creatives

Reports

How do I find out how my Campaigns are performing?

You can view various reports on the success of your campaign by selecting different reports under reports on the left side menu. The Dashboard in each campaign presents real time data about the performance of a subset of your Campaigns. The Campaigns page will present a list of all your Campaigns and present performance numbers. 

The Reports section also allows you to download a report containing all performance related numbers from your campaign. You can additionally activate automated scheduled reports that will be sent to your email.

Which reporting metrics are available?

The following metrics are available in the exported Reports in the Report section. Note that some metrics may be filtered on a certain date range, depending on the settings you select when creating the report. The metrics listed in reports include:

Booked impressions: The amount of impressions that were included in your budget when you created the campaign.

Budget: The budget you set when creating your campaign.

Clicks: The amount of clicks that occurred during the filtered period. 

Delivered impressions: The amount of impressions that occurred during the filtered period. 

CTR: The “click-through-rate” is the number of clicks received, divided by the number of delivered user impressions. The CTR is presented in percentages. 

Spend: The total amount of the campaign budget spent based on the delivered impressions.

Billing

How do I pay for a Campaign?

When you have finished creating your Campaign, you will be taken to the checkout flow. From here you can choose to pay for the Campaign, or add more Campaigns to your Cart.

The Platform supports payments via credit card and debit card through our secure payment provider, and accepts all major card brands.

When will I be charged?

When you checkout, you will be charged for all of the booked impressions for all of the campaigns.

What happens if my Campaigns underdeliver impressions?

If your Campaign delivers an impression amount lower than what you budgeted for, the platform will automatically refund the amount that was not delivered to your card after the Campaign has ended. 

In the event of under delivery of impressions, the value of non-delivered impressions will be calculated and refunded. Please note that the validity period of the card used to purchase the Campaigns should cover the whole delivery period for all Campaigns that were part of the booking, as refunds can only be issued for the same card used for paying for the campaigns.

Can I update my billing information?

Yes, you can update your billing information under profile in the top left corner and choose the tab 

billing.

What do the different Payment statuses mean?

Payment statuses are listed in the orders section. They include the following statuses: 

SETTLED: Payment is confirmed and the budget has been captured from the card. 

COMPLETED: All campaigns that were part of the booking are completed. Any potential under-delivered impressions have been calculated, and a potential refund is issued.

SENT FOR REFUND: Refers to when a refund is issued due to undelivered impressions or cancelling in the campaign. It usually takes 2-5 business days to complete the refund.

INVALID CARD: There is an issue with your card. For more information please contact MX Player. A contact form is available through the Support button in the dropdown menu in the top right corner.

PAYMENT FAILED: We couldn't process your payment and had to pause your campaign. To resume your campaign, please update the payment information.

My account

Can I update my account information?

You can update your account information by clicking on the user icon in the top right corner. Click profile and here you can edit your information.

You will be asked to enter your billing information when buying your first campaign. This information can then be edited anytime in the profile under the billing tab.

How do I change/reset my password?
  1. You can do this by clicking on the user icon in the top right corner. Click Profile, you will see an option to Reset Password under Account Details.

    You can also reset your password by logging out and going to the log-in page. Click on “Forgot Password” and follow the instructions from there.
